Local Gutter Solutionists

A postwar tract town with a lot of roof per downspout

Most of Mountain View went up between 1950 and 1970, and the housing shows it: single-story ranches with long uninterrupted rooflines and, very often, one downspout doing work that two should be sharing. Monta Loma, Rex Manor and Sylvan Park are full of them. That is fine in a normal week and it is exactly what overflows at the corner when a real storm lands, which is why we look at the run length and the outlet count before we quote a length of gutter.

The other half of the job here is what falls on it. Liquidambar and oak line a lot of these streets, and a seed ball will block a downspout outright rather than slowly filling it. Eric Dodge owns this location, the crews are local employees, and every job starts with a free written estimate. Licensed, bonded and insured, rated 5.0 on Google.

Street trees are the local story here. Sycamore, oak, liquidambar and Chinese pistache drop leaves and seed pods from fall into winter, right when the rain arrives, so a clogged run overflows at the first real storm. BroGuard stainless micro-mesh keeps that debris out while the water runs straight through. See our maintenance program.

Why the Brothers

Why Mountain View Homeowners Call the Brothers

01Formed at your house

Our truck carries the machine, so each run is extruded on site to the exact length of your roofline. No factory seams to split on a long ranch run.

02We count outlets, not just feet

A long roof plane draining to one downspout is the single most common overflow we find in this town. Adding an outlet is usually cheaper than replacing a gutter that was never the problem.

03Built for seed balls

Liquidambar is everywhere here and it does not politely fill a downspout, it plugs it. Non-combustible metal micro-mesh keeps the trough clear and keeps you off the ladder.

04Ready before the rain

Around 15 inches of rain falls here a year, nearly all between November and April and often in a few big systems. Cleanings and repairs get booked before the first one, not after it.

“The Brothers were great to work with. Quick response, easy scheduling, flexible accommodation of our requests. Front man Max and get ’er done Robert both knew their stuff. They also didn’t hesitate to come back immediately for some touchups even after they had my money. I can only wish more places were like Brothers.”

Mountain View Gutter Questions, Answered

Why does my gutter overflow at the same corner every year?

Almost always because too much roof is draining to one downspout. A lot of Mountain View ranch homes were built with a single outlet on a long run. Adding an outlet, or upgrading to a 6 inch gutter with 3 by 4 inch downspouts, fixes it without replacing anything that is still sound.

What do I do about the liquidambar seed balls?

Cover the trough. A seed ball blocks a downspout outright rather than gradually filling it, so cleaning alone means you are back on the ladder after every drop. Non-combustible metal micro-mesh stops them at the surface where rain still gets through.

How often should gutters be cleaned in Mountain View?

Twice a year is the working baseline, once before the rains and once after. Homes under liquidambar or coast live oak generally need more, and we would rather set a schedule than have you guess and find out during a storm.

Do you replace fascia as well?

Yes, when it needs it. Hangers need solid wood to hold, so fascia gets checked on every install and repair. If it is rotted or split we replace it before the gutter goes back up.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. A local Solutionist comes out, walks the roofline and the drainage, explains what you actually need and leaves a written price. No pressure and no obligation to book anything.
