Local Gutter Solutionists

Postwar tracts on a hillside in the wind

San Bruno is mostly postwar tract housing laid over a hill, which produces a very specific gutter problem: long simple roof planes, frequently one downspout doing the work of two, and enough exposure that the fastenings give out before the trough does. Rollingwood, Crestmoor and Portola Highlands all sit high enough to catch the gap wind, and the fog keeps the shaded runs damp long after a storm has gone through.

Lower down through Belle Air and Huntington Park the ground flattens and the question shifts to where the downspout is sending its water. Eric Dodge owns this location, every job starts with a free written estimate, and we are licensed, bonded and insured with a 5.0 rating on Google.

Street trees are the local story here. Sycamore, oak, liquidambar and Chinese pistache drop leaves and seed pods from fall into winter, right when the rain arrives, so a clogged run overflows at the first real storm. BroGuard stainless micro-mesh keeps that debris out while the water runs straight through. See our maintenance program.

Why the Brothers

Why San Bruno Homeowners Call the Brothers

01Formed at your house

Our truck carries the machine, so each run is extruded on site to the exact length of your roofline. No factory seams to open up in this wind.

02Fastened for the exposure

Most failures here are hangers and straps letting go rather than the gutter wearing out. We fasten into solid wood and repair soft fascia before anything is rehung.

03We count outlets, not just feet

A long tract roof plane draining to one downspout is the most common overflow in this town. Adding an outlet usually beats replacing gutter that is still perfectly sound.

04Built for damp, not just rain

Fog keeps shaded runs wet long after a storm passes, and damp debris mats and holds water against the fascia. Cover the trough, keep a schedule, and that stops happening.

“The Brothers were great to work with. Quick response, easy scheduling, flexible accommodation of our requests. Front man Max and get ’er done Robert both knew their stuff. They also didn’t hesitate to come back immediately for some touchups even after they had my money. I can only wish more places were like Brothers.”

San Bruno Gutter Questions, Answered

Why does my gutter come loose every winter?

Almost always the fastening rather than the gutter. San Bruno catches real wind on the hill streets, and hangers screwed into fascia that has gone soft will keep pulling out no matter how many times it is rehung. We replace the fascia where it is needed and refasten into solid material.

Why does it overflow at the same corner?

Usually too much roof plane draining to one downspout, which is common across the postwar tracts here. Adding an outlet or moving to a 6 inch gutter with 3 by 4 inch downspouts fixes the capacity without a full replacement.

How often should gutters be cleaned in San Bruno?

Two to three times a year depending on your exposure and canopy. The fog pushes it higher than you might expect, because debris stays damp and mats rather than drying out and blowing clear.

Do you handle where the water goes after the downspout?

Yes. On the flatter streets a downspout dumping at the slab sends every gallon toward the foundation. We run buried lines to daylight or a drywell, and several downspouts can be tied into one run sized for the roof area.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. A local Solutionist comes out, walks the roofline and the drainage, explains what you actually need and leaves a written price. No pressure and no obligation to book anything.
