Local Gutter Solutionists

Eichlers on one hill, century-old estates on the other

The San Mateo Highlands is one of the largest Eichler tracts anywhere, and an Eichler roof is a low-pitched plane with wide eaves where very few outlets carry everything. Sizing and slope matter more than length, and when one of those outlets backs up the water finds the beam. Drop down into San Mateo Park, Baywood and Aragon and you are in a completely different job: older homes, deeper eaves, cut-up rooflines and trim that a stock profile will flatten.

Both sit under a mature canopy that keeps the trough busy, and the hillside streets are close enough to open ground that non-combustible guards are simply the right default. Eric Dodge owns this location, every job starts with a free written estimate, and we are licensed, bonded and insured with a 5.0 rating on Google.

Street trees are the local story here. Sycamore, oak, liquidambar and Chinese pistache drop leaves and seed pods from fall into winter, right when the rain arrives, so a clogged run overflows at the first real storm. BroGuard stainless micro-mesh keeps that debris out while the water runs straight through. See our maintenance program.

Why the Brothers

Why San Mateo Homeowners Call the Brothers

01Formed at your house

Our truck carries the machine, so each run is extruded on site to the exact length of your roofline. No factory seams to split and nothing to order and wait on.

02Highlands Eichlers are their own job

A low-pitched plane with wide eaves and very few outlets is nothing like a pitched roof with a long run. We size the outlet and check the slope, because that is where these roofs actually fail.

03Careful around older trim

San Mateo Park and Baywood homes have rooflines worth protecting. We match profile and finish to the trim and check the fascia before a single hanger goes in.

04Non-combustible by default

On the hillside streets, plastic and foam inserts are fuel sitting on the roofline. We install metal, which is also what California code asks for in a Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area.

Year-round

Your San Mateo gutter calendar

What we are doing on San Mateo rooflines each season, so your system is ready before the weather asks it to work.

  1. Fall · Oct to NovPre-storm cleaning and repairs

Troughs, scuppers and downspouts cleared and flush-tested, loose hangers and leaking seams fixed before the first big system.

  2. Winter · Dec to MarStorm season response

Overflow and clog calls prioritized ahead of forecast storms, plus emergency repair when a run pulls loose.

  3. Spring · Apr to MayPost-bloom clean-out and guards

Oak, liquidambar and eucalyptus drop cleared, and BroGuard installed so the trough stays clear through the dry months.

  4. Summer · Jun to SepInstall season and hardening

The long dry window for new seamless runs, metal upgrades and non-combustible guards, which is also when fire season peaks.

What Peninsula Homeowners Say

Steve Fink★★★★★

“The Brothers were great to work with. Quick response, easy scheduling, flexible accommodation of our requests. Front man Max and get ’er done Robert both knew their stuff. They also didn’t hesitate to come back immediately for some touchups even after they had my money. I can only wish more places were like Brothers.”

Grainger Marburg★★★★★

“I hired The Brothers That Just Do Gutters to replace some gutters and downspouts that were probably as old as the house itself (a 100-year-old Spanish-style bungalow).”

Aron Walker★★★★★

“I had a very good experience with The Brothers That Just Do Gutters. They came out and gave me an estimate to clean my gutters and also replaced 2 runs.”

San Mateo Gutter Questions, Answered

Do you work on Highlands Eichlers?

Regularly. The roof is a low-pitched plane with wide eaves draining through very few outlets, so the failure mode is a blocked or undersized outlet rather than a sagging run, and the beam sits directly under it. We look at the actual roof and the outlet count before quoting anything.

Will a new gutter look wrong on an older San Mateo Park home?

It should not. Those homes have deeper eaves and detailed trim that a stock K-style hung tight to the fascia can bury. Half-round and specialty profiles are available, and the fascia gets checked and repaired first so the new system sits properly.

How often should gutters be cleaned in San Mateo?

Twice a year covers most of the flat. Under a mature oak or redwood canopy on the hill streets it is realistically three, because neither tree drops in one tidy season. A schedule beats guessing and finding out mid-storm.

Is fire hardening a real concern here?

On parts of the hillside, yes. Inside a Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area, Section 504.4 of California’s Wildland-Urban Interface Code (formerly R337.5.4) requires roof gutters to have a means of preventing leaves and debris from accumulating, and non-combustible metal mesh is how that gets satisfied. Your city can confirm your address.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. A local Solutionist comes out, walks the roofline and the drainage, explains what you actually need and leaves a written price. No pressure and no obligation to book anything.
